Central Africa
The Republic of the Congo
Deep immersion in the world's second-largest rainforest — tracking western lowland gorillas and exploring wildlife-rich baïs.

The Republic of the Congo is not your classic savannah safari — this is an immersive, raw expedition into the world’s second-largest rainforest. Here, the wilderness is dense and untamed, with a mere handful of intimate camps hidden deep within the Congo Basin. Odzala-Kokoua National Park is the beating heart: a mosaic of rivers, marshes, and ancient jungle where you track western lowland gorillas on foot and wade into baïs (mineral-rich forest clearings) to watch forest elephants and bongo gather. It requires a true spirit of adventure — you’ll be traversing by kayak, walking ancient trails, and getting mud on your boots — but nowhere else offers such a profoundly exclusive connection to Africa’s deepest wild.
